Merseyside Police were called to the M62 westbound between junctions seven (Warrington Road) and six (M7/Tarbock Island) at around 5.15pm on Tuesday, April 12, following reports of a car stopped on the carriageway. Once at the scene officers found a car facing the wrong way on the westbound carriageway.
It is unclear if the car was involved in a crash, broke down or if the vehicle lost control. A police spokesperson confirmed the driver was out of the car when officers arrived.
