Arsenal were one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window, spending over £100million in completing five new signings.
Technical director Edu's work off the pitch has seen the Gunners enjoy a stellar start to the new season, winning six of their opening seven fixtures in all competitions. Arsenal sit top of the Premier League and are likely to remain there throughout September following the news of fixture postponements after Queen Elizabeth II's passing.
Despite a busy summer transfer window, Mikel Arteta's wish of adding one or two more signings before Deadline Day was unable to be granted. The Gunners saw three bids for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz rebuffed after Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny picked up injuries, whilst a new winger is thought to remain a priority in the transfer market.

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk and Alex Grimaldo have both been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in January, with the former admitting he 'couldn't say no' if the Gunners made a move to sign him. Douglas Luiz remains a possibility for Arsenal if they wish to reignite their interest in the Brazilian midfielder.
In terms of outgoings, the Gunners moved on a lot of fringe players in the summer but new arrivals could see some current players be moved on. Kieran Tierney is a player that is at risk of a potential transfer exit due to the club's transfer targets, with the Scottish defender's injury record making him an unreliable option for Mikel Arteta in a packed fixture schedule.
With that in mind, football.london takes a look at Arsenal's transfer to-do list before the January transfer window opens.
Incoming signings
Mykhaylo Mudryk
Mudryk emerged as a target over the summer for the Gunners but a deal never materialised for the talented Ukrainian winger.
Speaking to CBS Sports, Mudryk said: "I think every guy dreams about the Premier League. It's hard to say [who his preferred move is] but Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach, I like the way they play."
When asked if he would make a move to the Emirates he said: "From my side, I can't say no [to Arsenal]. But the transfer is not only my decision."
Arteta is keen to add another winger to his squad to strengthen his attacking options and to add competition for Bukayo Saka on the right. Marquinhos impressed in his full debut for the Gunners during the win over FC Zurich, but Mudryk would be a significant addition to the squad and likely make a big impact in the second half of the season.
Alex Grimaldo
Grimaldo was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer but Arsenal elected to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City instead.
Zinchenko is now seen as the starting left-back for the Gunners but his versatility and technical ability could see him move into a central midfield role later in the season, especially if injuries continue to hamper Arteta's midfield options. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the north Londoners remain interested in signing the Benfica left-back, who is also a target for Juventus as they look to replace Alex Sandro.
The Spaniard has a wealth of Champions League experience and at 26-year-old he still has time to continue developing into an even better player. Grimaldo has only missed five games in the last two years compared to Tierney's absence of 29 games in the same period of time, making him a much more reliable option in defence with the Gunners looking to challenge in all competitions through a busy season.
Outgoing sales
Kieran Tierney
Tierney has been a fan-favourite since he made the move to the capital from Celtic back in 2019.
The Scottish defender has struggled with injuries throughout his Arsenal career and is now considered to be Zinchenko's deputy at left-back. Arteta can't afford to be without players for a long period of time with the Gunners currently sat top of the Premier League and challenging in four competitions this term.
Tierney would not be short of suitors should Arsenal look to move on the 25-year-old and with plenty of time left on his current deal the club could still bring in a relatively high fee.
Reiss Nelson
Nelson has been hit with yet another injury issue at the start of the 2022/23 campaign after a promising pre-season with the Gunners.
It might be time for the 22-year-old to finally seal a permanent move away from the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal looking to sign a new winger and Marquinhos already impressing when given a chance in the first team. Nelson's contract expires next summer meaning the January transfer window would be the last chance for the club to receive a transfer fee for his services.
