Mykhaylo Mudryk makes Shakhtar decision as Arsenal close to 'full agreement' on transfer

Arsenal are prioritising a move for Mykhaylo Mudryk in the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to add quality and depth to his attack. The Gunners have tabled two offers for the 22-year-old, but neither come close to Shakhtar Donetsk's £88million asking price.

Chelsea remain in the frame to sign Mudryk and are said to be willing to outbid any rival offer as they look to hijack the Gunners' move for the Ukraine international. Mudryk has dropped a number of hints on social media and in interviews regarding his desire to seal a transfer to the Emirates Stadium in January.

Arsenal are set to be without £45million summer signing Gabriel Jesus until February with Arteta hinting that he would like a new striker before the transfer window closes. The Gunners had been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix, but the 23-year-old is now close to finalising a loan move to Chelsea as Todd Boehly looks to revitalise Graham Potter's attack.

Negotiations between Arsenal and Shakhtar are set to continue this week as Mudryk reunites with his teammates ahead of a winter training camp in Turkey, according to The Athletic. The 22-year-old has joined up with the rest of the Shakhtar squad in Poland ahead of their flight to Turkey, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Mudryk posted pictures of himself working on his fitness throughout the World Cup break with many Arsenal fans theorising that he was in London ahead of a move to the Emirates Stadium. According to Italian outlet FootMercato, the Gunners have now taken a huge step towards securing a 'full agreement' for the 22-year-old's signing.

The Kroenke family are said to have given the green light for sporting director Edu Gaspar to meet Shakhtar's transfer demands. The two clubs are still discussing bonuses, but are edging closer to an agreement on a transfer fee which could be around €100million (£88million).

Should a fee be agreed in the coming days, Mudryk will be allowed to leave Shakhtar's training camp and complete the necessary medical tests and finalise his transfer exit.
