Mykhaylo Mudryk drops transfer hint and makes exciting ‘potential’ claim amid Liverpool links

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has suggested he wants to make a move to the Premier League amid rumours linking him with a transfer to Liverpool.

Dubbed the ‘Ukrainian Neymar’ and with two goals and two assists in two Champions League games this season, the 21-year-old’s stock is rising by the week. Scouts of as many as nine Premier League teams were at Hampden Park on Thursday to watch the winger face Scotland in the Nations League, and Liverpool are rumoured to be one.

Merseyside rivals Everton had a €30million bid rejected for Mudryk over the summer, and Shakhtar sporting director Darijo Srna hinted any potential suitors would need to increase that offer substantially for what he thinks is the third-best right-winger in the world.

“Mudryk is a serious talent,” Srna told CBS Sports when discussing Everton’s failed bid. “After Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, he’s the best player in Europe in his position. If someone wants to buy Mudryk they must spend a lot, a lot, a lot of money and respect our club and our president.”

Liverpool will not be dissuaded by Srna’s comments, knowing that elimination from the Champions League at the group stage would leave the Ukrainian side with a prized asset that craves European football. And the winger himself has offered promise to the Reds and their top-flight rivals by admitting a Premier League move is something everybody dreams of - and the promising talent made an exciting point about his future potential.

“Yes, yes, it is possible,” Mudryk told the Times when asked about a move to England. “The Premier League is the best league in the world and everyone wants to play in this league.”

And asked if he is aware of the interest and discussion across the league, the Ukrainian added: “No! I appreciate it, but I must improve a lot of moments because I think I can play better.

“I’m only at maximum 20 per cent of my potential.”
