Eddie Howe admits he is 'truly sorry' that Newcastle United could not secure a trophy for the passionate supporters who both flocked to Wembley and watched the final elsewhere.
The Magpies fan base have been the only supporters visible in London all weekend. Drinking the pubs dry, partying at Trafalgar Square and enjoying their Wembley Way experience, the Geordies have truly taken over in London.
Newcastle were outclassed on the pitch in the Carabao Cup final but the fans in the stands did not singing and waving their flags all game. Howe has paid tribute to the support on display in recent days.

"We felt nothing but support and love which is so so important for the players to feel when they enter the pitch," he said. "Where they play in an environment where they can express themselves. I can categorically tell you they felt that today.
“The scenes when driving in with the bus today were exceptional. Exceptional support, I can’t say anything else really. My words don’t do it justice but a big thank you for that.
"It’s felt and acknowledged from our perspective and warmly received.”
Newcastle's time in a cup final will come. It feels as though it is on the horizon after this season's display. On another day, they may have snatched a win and Howe admits he was pleased with the manner of the performance.
“No complaints with how we played, obviously the scoreline doesn’t say that, and that’s where football can be cruel," he said. “Individually and collectively I thought we played well but it just didn’t happen in the box and we need to work on that.
“I can’t take positives from losing but I can from the performance. They’ve been committed and give everything for the club. I’m sorry we couldn’t deliver for the fans today.”
