TikTok user @tajjjj99 shares an almost unbelievable story about her experience working at a bank. On March 22, 2026, Taj posted a video saying she was having a typical day at Crowd Point Bank when a customer approached her for help just before closing time. She notes that besides this person, another customer was already being assisted by her colleagues. Anyway, this man comes forward and tells Taj he wants to deposit money. Taj then asks for his first and last name, which he says is Ronald Pierce.
Taj looks up the man’s name after confirming he had completed the necessary steps, but finds nothing in the system. After double-checking, she informs Mr. Pierce that his name isn’t showing up, and he shows disgust, saying this has happened to him before as well. Taj then offers to set up a new account and asks for ID. At this point, he reaches into his belongings and, to Taj’s dismay, pulls out a gun. It becomes clear to Taj that Mr. Pierce is trying to rob the bank, and she is involuntarily helping him.
Taj puts the money in the robber’s bag
In her continued TikTok story, @tajjjj99 explains that after realizing Mr. Pierce has a gun pointed at her, he demands the money and asks her not to make a scene. She notices her coworkers are unaware of the situation and are busy helping another customer. Taj then goes to the back, inputs the safe code, places the money in the bag, and returns to the counter. As Mr. Pierce walks away with the money, Taj notices the other customer her colleagues were helping, realizes he was a distraction, and was with Mr. Pierce.
She then reveals in her video that, as Mr. Pierce tries to leave, he pushes the door, but it doesn’t open. He tries again with the same result. Taj then orders him to return the stolen money, or he won’t leave. Mr. Pierce, angry, approaches Taj with his gun, threatening to shoot everyone if she doesn’t open the door. Taj pretends to press the unlock button, and when he heads for the exit, she grabs a phone cord, wraps it around his neck, and chokes him. When he gets close to her desk, she bangs his head until it “cracks open.” He then beats her repeatedly until she falls unconscious. She then restrains Mr. Pierce and his accomplice in chairs with duct tape. At one point, she even asks Mr. Pierce his real name, which he reveals as Marcus.
Taj’s story has gained a lot of attention
Taj’s video about being a robbery victim has gone viral, sparking lots of comments. User @irateforms_in_tahiti wrote, “My show is on.” User @oh_the_terror commented, “The most unrealistic thing in this story is that the bank is open til six.”
Many questions arose about Taj’s coworkers, who mostly remained unaware of the robbery. User @lexluger said, “Not you got stuck working with Morgan and Jenny that day. Must’ve been a Monday.” User @allthingsna0mi asked, “Wait, what did your coworker do?!”
Bank robberies have been declining over the years
According to a Substack article by Jeff Asher published on January 13, 2025, bank robberies have steadily decreased over time. This is supported by FBI statistics listing robberies since 2004.
By 2023, the last recorded year, there were 1,263 bank robbery cases, 95 burglaries, and 4 larcenies. The report also breaks down the perpetrators by race and gender, finding that of the 1,362 total violations, 412 were committed by white men, 707 by Black men, 129 by Hispanic men, 27 by Asian men, and 16 by men of other races. It also shows that 37 were committed by white women, 60 by Black women, 7 by Hispanic women, 1 by an Asian woman, and 1 by women of other races.
