A man is fuming with his parents as they refuse to use his newborn daughter's real name - and instead insist on using the one they would have chosen.
His parents wanted sole naming rights for the newborn as she is their first grandchild, but they were overruled and the baby's parents went for the name they had both agreed on.
However, his parents were not a fan of the choice and despite the name now being on her birth certificate, they continue to call her the title they would have chosen for her which leaves the man livid.
In his Reddit post, the man, who lives with his parents, added that his mum refuses to stop using the different name as it is the one "stuck in her head."
The man, who remained anonymous, wrote: "We picked out a boy name and a girl name respectively. Both names were rejected by my mum, dad and aunt. My parents wanted to name our baby. They said that this is their first grandchild and should have the right to name it.
"For days we were pressured into changing the names that we decided on to the names my parents wanted. I finally put my foot down and said no."
He added that they decided on the name Jessica for the baby but his parents were adamant on the name Jasmine - so they decided to keep calling her that.
"I've recently gotten into an argument with my mother over it," he wrote.
"She said that yes her legal name is Jessica but I will call her Jasmine because that's the name that is stuck in my head. I told her no her name is Jessica, you cannot call her a name that is not the one we gave her.
"It's not that I don't want her to give her a nickname or pet name. I just feel like she is undermining my fiancé and I's decision to name our daughter."
In response, many people sided with the man and agreed his mum should not be disrespecting their choice of name for their daughter.
One person wrote: "May I suggest calling your parents Gladys and Philbert instead of mum and dad because those are the names 'stuck in your head'?"
Another stated: "I would stop visiting. They say ok you win... visit again."
A third penned: "I would ask them who named their children? Were they allowed to do it or did their parents take that over as well?"
