'My neighbour's kids yell through our windows - it is hell'

A woman said that she is being terrorised by her neighbour's children - as they will yell and growl through her windows.

Sharing her story anonymously, the woman said that she lives with her boyfriend in a flat and until recently everything was fine - but about a year ago things started to change.

She explained that her home is quite small, and the woman next door has four children - meaning all five of them live in a flat barely big enough for two.

The woman said that whenever the mother is away, the four children run wild and have started deliberately trying to wind her up - and now she's had enough.

What do you think about the woman's neighbour? Let us know in the comments...

Taking to Reddit, the woman wrote: "My boyfriend and I have been living in the apartment next to terrible neighbours for a year now.

"We live in an area that the apartments are zoned for only two people and there are at least five in a single-bedroom apartment next to us.

"Two babies, two middle schoolers, one older brother, and the mum. The mum is never there so the kids are very loud when she's gone.

"They constantly slam each other against the wall that we share and bang on the wall. The middle schoolers have been messing with us since they moved in.

"We live on the first floor so they walk up to our window and yell through it at us. Just now, at midnight one of them growled at us through our window from outside.

"Other times they have yelled other random things during the day, but at night it was extremely startling and upsetting. They have also banged on our door very loudly late at night on multiple occasions and ran into their apartment."

The woman said that initially, she ignored the wayward behaviour, but after a while, it started to wear her down.

She continued: "We've been dealing with this for so long and I have felt too bad to say anything to the office because I would feel bad if a single mum were to be evicted, but at this point, I'm becoming extremely fed up.

"I have only reached out to the leasing office once before this when I could smell them smoking cigarettes inside their apartment through the wall we share.

"For a while, I thought if we ignored their behavior they would get bored and stop messing with us, but this hasn't been the case.

"We have also been more than nice to them, even jumping the mum's car for her when they asked for our help. I know we're not the only ones the kids have messed with, but I think they like to mess with us particularly because we are next to them."

After sharing her story on Reddit, the woman was inundated with advice from other internet users.

One said: "Back in the 80's and 90's my parents worked, my brother and I were latchkey kids. You know what got us in more trouble than anything? If my parents found out we were bothering the neighbors with our c**p.

"If my mum found out we were running the apt halls, or being loud or doing anything other than playing quietly with the doors locked the consequences were severe.

"Snitch on those kids directly to the mum, give her a chance to bring down the wrath of mum god on them - then you can feel guilt free going to the office with future complaints."

Then another wrote: "You should have a chat with the mum, first. Definitely give her the chance to correct it before reporting them."

And a third commented: "I'd get cameras and complain every time it happens.

"If you have proof they called you so many times I'd actually contact the police, at least in my area harassment via telephone is a charge in its own."
