'My life-threatening car crash forced me to get help, I've been sober 14 months'

A former alcoholic who began drinking at the age of 12 has told of how a life-threatening car accident forced her to get sober after years of alcohol abuse.

Saoirse Welland, 27, who is a childminder from Leamington Spa, soon became addicted to alcohol as a teen and claims she started drinking the equivalent of a one-litre bottle of booze every day - opting for everything from wine to beer and spirits.

But after being involved in a car accident, which nearly cost Saoirse her life, she knew she had to get help.
