'My husband spent all our £12,000 savings on baffling Costco deal without asking'

Money sometimes stands as a great bane for any relationship - and can often result in turmoil for couples. Amid the current cost of living crisis, it's safe to safe that every penny counts and some are relying on their life savings more so than ever.

So, if your partner was to impulsively drain your full £12,000 savings, you would understandably be livid, right? According to a raging mum online, her husband did just that - after he spent the married couple 's bank balance on bargain solar panels in popular budget wholesaler Costco.

In the post, the woman voiced her anger of her quick spending husband - who splurged the cash on the expensive purchase.

"My husband has just spent £12k on solar panels," she said. "There was an offer on at Costco which included installation.

"He tried calling me but I was away with work so he made the decision to buy it.

She added: "I'm really cross as it’s a lot of money, but he says it's something we've talked about and he knew how I felt (which is true) and that I'd say great let's do it (which is also true).

"He doesn't see what the problem is - but I still feel a bit miffed."

In a bid to seek assurance from fellow users on Mumsnet, the woman questioned whether she was being unreasonable.

With users quickly rushing to the comment section of the post, they were sure that the wife shouldn't feel annoyed about the ordeal - and quickly found a solution.

One user asked: "If you think it's great and had previously discussed it, why are you miffed?"

A second wrote: "I get why you feel miffed but if it’s a good price (no idea on the cost of them) and it is something he knew from previous discussions you where up for then I would go with it - but remind him in future to wait until he has spoken to you to confirm

"There's always a cool down period, can easily be cancelled," a user suggested.

Another added: "They can be cancelled up to a week before installation with Costco."
