'My husband ditched plans with our son to go and watch the World Cup - he's so selfish'

A mum is fuming with her husband after he decided to cancel plans to spend quality time with his son to watch the World Cup with his brother.

The dad only had this one day off a week to spend with his son but chose instead to go to watch the football and drink with his brother, leaving his son heartbroken.

The concerned mum took to Reddit to explain that her son had been looking forward to spending some time with his dad after he had been promising him all week to spend time with him on that day. So she was worried he would be upset when he found out.

In the post, the mum, who remained anonymous, explained: "This just happened. I'm so upset with him.

"Our son has been asking him to go out all day but my husband has been brushing him off. And now he told me he's going with his brother to watch the World Cup."

The mum went onto explain that she asked her husband about his promise to their son and he brushed it off saying that he would be back before the kid was in bed but the mum was not impressed.

She said: "I never want to be the wife who nags. I get my husband has been working hard and only has a little free time.

"But how can he treat his son as so unimportant? Who breaks a promise to a little boy?

"I'll find something to cheer my son up but I know he will be heartbroken."

In response, many have been quick to support the mum and say the dad was out of line.

One person wrote: "Acknowledge your son's feelings and help him process it without your anger seeping in."

While another stated: "There's nothing wrong at all with being the 'nagging wife'. It's okay to bring up problematic behavior [sic], it's okay to call someone out on their behaviour."
