‘My former colleagues were attacked at HMP Frankland – prisons are more dangerous for guards than ever’

A former colleague of the prison officers who were attacked at HMP Frankland on the weekend has warned that jails are more dangerous for staff now than ever.

The ex-prison officer, who wished to remain anonymous, demanded more support for those working in a prison service that is “on its knees” due to overcrowding and longer sentences.
