'My five-year-old bought £2.3k worth of toys without me knowing - but I'm not mad'

A five-year-old managed to get into her mum's phone and buy over £2,000 worth of toys and goodies for herself - without her mum realising for days.

The mum, Jessica Nunes, 26, first thought she was the victim of some kind of fraud when she got a notification on her phone saying that her Amazon order was being shipped.

But when she took a closer look at what was in the order she was left even more baffled as it included a wide range of toys and even dirt bikes.

On seeing the dirt bikes, she thought her daughter, Lila Rose, could have something to do with it as they had seen some young boys playing on dirt bikes only a few days prior and her child had expressed an interest in what they were doing.

The mum, from Massachusetts, USA, explained that she had been in the car with her daughter in recent days and allowed her to use the phone to play a game so she reckons that is when the £2,300 purchases were made.

However, Jessica has not reacted as many would as she is not angry about it at all - and thinks this is a great lesson learned.

Appearing on Good Morning America, she said: "I told her in the future, yes, we were going to get you a bike but that is something that you needed to earn.

"That's something that we needed to take some time and research, not just if I want it, I get it.

"I think the takeaway is definitely to watch your children, have passwords, teach the value of money."

Jessica has now vowed to protect her accounts with passwords and will be keeping a closer eye on when her daughter uses her phone in the future.

Thankfully, the purchases made were cancelled and are in the process of being returned.
