The free demo version of Gran Turismo 7, known as My First Gran Turismo, is launching on PlayStation consoles on Dec. 6, 2024.
Sony is calling the free demo version a "special free-to-play invitation" that is part of its efforts to attract new players to try out its 2022 entry to the racing game franchise.
My First Gran Turismo is a standalone download for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will not be locked behind a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The demo features three Time Trials, three Music Rally stages, a full suite of License Tests, 16 unique vehicles, three circuits, and support for PlayStation VR2. Kazunori Yamauchi said that the new experience pays tribute to the origins of the first-ever Gran Turismo game.
He argued that the joy of racing for the first time or reigniting a forgotten passion for driving can be found in My First Gran Turismo. The free demo version was designed to be both approachable and immersive as it was created for everyone, according to Kotaku.
The free demo version's release also comes alongside PlayStation's ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations. The first entry in the Gran Turismo series is one of the titles that helped the brand become popular with the masses.
The first Gran Turismo game was able to sell more than 10 million copies and the latest entry, Gran Turismo 7, is also considered an amazing title. The latter also supports four-play splitscreen, which makes it even more attractive to families of gamers.
An Immersive Free-to-Play Demo
PlayStation described My First Gran Turismo as letting players go on a personal driving journey for themselves. The developers made sure that the free demo version is intuitive and allows anyone to get behind the wheel and master the game's basics, the PlayStation Blog said.
My First Gran Turismo helps players become better at cornering, braking, and accelerating their powerful cars. By diving into the free demo version, users can build up their confidence one lap at a time and take on challenges to improve their driving skills.
The PlayStation VR2 support on the PlayStation 5 allows players to experience a "whole new level of driving realism and highly immersive gameplay." PlayStation seems to be hoping that players who try out the free demo version will later purchase games in the franchise.
Gran Turismo 7 was said to combine the original Gran Turismo's trendsetting format with Gran Turismo Sport's focus on competitive online racing. The latest entry in the series proves that developer Polyphony Digital is capable of amazing performance, according to IGN.
