'My dad is giving his new daughter my exact name - I feel like I'm being replaced'

A teenager has been left heartbroken after her dad revealed what he is naming his second-born daughter. The 18-year-old, named Roseanna, has never had a close relationship with her father - but has always tried her best to get along with him and his new wife.

However, this became even more challenging after he bluntly told her she was conceived by "mistake". Roseanne said: "My parents didn't want to have children but a mistake happened.

"I do have his last name but he was never present in my life until last year and I'm currently staying with him. My dad has a new wife and I met her last year - we don't really like each other. Now she is pregnant, the baby will be born in June around my birthday."

She went on to explain how her dad is "super excited" about the new baby - saying how he wants to do everything right by his second child.

However, she couldn't help but feel "replaced" after he and her step-mum revealed what they're going to call their new arrival.

"He and his wife want to name the baby Roseanne since her [his new wife's] favourite flowers are roses," she added on Reddit.

"I don't like the idea at all - it will be my exact name and surname. I feel like he is trying to replace me.

"I suggested other similar names, the most obvious being Rose but they don't like anything at all.

"My step-mum says that I'm being selfish because I'm 'jealous' of my dad wanting this baby. My dad is upset at me and says I should be mature and not gate-keep a name."

While most people slammed her dad for giving his daughters the same name, others urged her to keep her distance from him, claiming she'll be happier for it in the long run.

One commenter said: "It would be unfair to both you and the baby to have the same exact name. That's incredibly weird that your dad would even think that's a good idea."

Another user added: "Tell them that you give your full support to them using the name, then go change your surname and never speak to them again."

A third user said: "This is a huge red flag about your standing in your dad's view. This naming highly suggests he's seeing the baby as his chance to correct the mistakes he made with you.

"She's to be your replacement. I honestly think you should start preparing to move out and be independent."

One more user added: "You just don't name two of your kids the exact same thing - you just don't.

"On top of that, it is confusing and it has pretty negative connotations - coming off like you're trying to replace one kid for another. That's not okay."
