'My coworker named her baby after a shampoo bottle - I feel sorry for the kid'

Choosing a baby name is one of the first big decisions you make as a parent - but not everybody gets it right. After hearing the 'worst name you could ever give a child', one man took it upon himself to share it with the world, struggling to believe it's true.

He explained how his coworker proudly named her daughter like a "bottle of shampoo" in her quest to come up with the most 'unique' name out there. Taking to Reddit, he said: "My coworker named her baby Strawberry Rain, which would be a great name if she had given birth to a bottle of shampoo."

Commenting on the name, one user said: "Surely you can't be serious." Another user added: "And her sister Purple Rain, if she likes Prince."

Continuing the joke, a third user said: "And her cousin November Rain, if she likes Guns 'N' Roses."

It prompted other users to share the worst baby names they've ever heard, with many wondering whether the children changed their names later in life.

One user said: "I actually went to school with a guy named Richard Rash. To make it worse his mother was a teacher there. Poor Dick couldn't catch a break"

Another user added: "A girl in my high school was legally named Princess but she went by her middle name. There was also a girl who’s name was Sunny Day and she was the emo kid."

"I know someone who named their kid Khaleesi [from Game of Thrones], yikes," one more user said.

Another user added: "I've seen a few little boys named Riot. That name seems pretty bad to me."

A final user said: "When I worked at Chick-fil-A way back in the day, I was taking this girl's order and it came time to ask for her name, she was being very hesitant.

"So I was just waiting for a reply until her mum says, 'Sorry she's shy', looks me in the eyes with a smile and tells me, 'Her name is Thankful!' ... poor child."
