When it comes to choosing a name for their newborn baby, some people go down the traditional route, while others like to choose more unique monikers.
Sometimes when people choose a name that stands out from others it has the potential to gain unwanted criticism.
One mum revealed she faced constant backlash about the unusual name she chose for her daughter, but she has now hit back at the trolls.
The mum, whose name is Kelsei and lives in Chicago in the US, regularly shares video of her child on TikTok account @stonemart, where she has 10.2k followers.
Recently, the mum shared a video of her adorable newborn with a sign displaying her name – Stone Monroe. The video was a response to someone calling her name "horrendous".
She also received other comments saying "her name is tacky" and "horrendous," and another person commented saying "She's gonna hate you for that name".
Another said: "You're naming a child not an adult, remember that [sic]."
"Stone... seriously? She's not a rock," said another.
However, some pointed out that Stone is quite similar to Sloane, which is a more common variant.
The mum hit back at the criticism, saying: "If you think her name is bad, you should have seen the other names on our list."
Kelsei also shared some of the girl names they loved but had decided not to use. They included Melrose, Savie, Baynx, Haze, Capri, Cove Maxim, Scout, Cobain and Nirvana.
In the comment section people shared their love for her unique baby name list, with one person saying: "These names are so cute! I Had some of these on my list but was too scared."
Others said that they absolutely loved the name she had ended up choosing for her daughter.
One person said: "LOVE her name! Are you kidding me!"
Another said: "She's SO cute! And I LOVE her name!".
Many pointed out that it's her own child and she can name her whatever she wants.
Former Love Island star Molly Mae Hague also recently caused a stir when she revealed the unusual name she and Tommy Fury had picked for their newborn daughter.
Revealing her daughter's name to fans by posting the photo, she added in the caption: "Bambi" followed by a white heart emoji.
The name has had mixed reactions, with many calling it "beautiful" and "gorgeous", but others expressed their dislike for the name.
Many took to social media to discuss, with one person on Twitter saying: "Does Molly-Mae not know what happened to Bambi’s mum," in reference to the 1942 Disney film with the same name. Another simply said: "Oh deer."
The Mirror recently spoke to a 28-year-old who is also called Bambi, who admits she was teased for the name by her peers when she was growing up.
