"My 10 year old daughter wants to be an entrepreneur": Flatheads Shoes co-founder Ganesh Balakrishnan in a social media post on Shark Tank India

Following his appearance on Shark Tank India, Flatheads Shoes co-founder, Ganesh Balakrishnan took to social media to share his experience on the show. His post on LinkedIn has gained more than 62000 likes and has been reposted more than 600 times.

Ganesh Balakrishnan’s emotional pitch on Shark Tank India has won the hearts of the viewers. The IIT Bombay graduate had started his third business venture Flatheads in 2019.

In the long post, which he wrote following his pitch on the show, Ganesh talks about his daughter Maitri along with sharing gratitude to the investors and to the show.

"And by the way, did I mention that my 10 year old daughter wants to be an entrepreneur?," he writes.

"She says she is a fan of Peyush's no-nonsense mindset, and I know that she admires Vineeta for her cheerfulness and positivity. She is super proud that I managed to get an offer from both of them! She is an artist and is taking pre-orders for her 2023 calendar created with her paintings," he has added.

"Just check out https://lnkd.in/gQU58Zyp if you are interested in getting one!," the proud father has shared on social media.

An entrepreneur himself, Ganesh seems to have recognised this talent in his daughter from a very early age. In another post, Ganesh talks about his daughter's "first taste of entrepreneurship."

He says how his daughter who was asked to showcase her art at a show used her entrepreneurial skill to make use of the opportunity.

"We got to work immediately. Maitri quickly put together her artwork that she wanted to display. I asked her - other than the art showcase, can she think of selling something that people can use? She came up with the idea of taking pre-orders for the 2023 calendar, which we create every year by choosing 12 of her best paintings. Now we had a stall in the making!," he writes.

"She also said she will ask for commissions and create customized paintings for people who are interested! How can people reach out to her for commissions? She needed a visiting card! Mom (Anuradha Pasupathy) got into action - she created a visiting card with Maitri's calligraphy, and also created an Instagram handle for her artwork," he adds.

The 10 year old was obviously nervous before her first pitch. "Maitri rehearsed her introduction and pitch, and was super nervous! Grandpa to the rescue - he calmed her nerves by giving her the first calendar pre-order and an artwork commission too!," writes Ganesh.

Ganesh goes on to write how his daughter did not feel defeated when till one hour there was no sale.

"The people began to roll into the stall, and I could see the self-doubt and hesitation in Maitri's voice and demeanour as she put herself out there talking to strangers and pitching her art. 1 hour passed, and not a single sale happened. She was downcast, but not defeated. We came up with 2-3 variations of her pitch, and she started to try them out with visitors.

And then magic happened - Rishi Vasudev walked up to the stall, listened to her pitch, and bought a painting! You could see the sparkle in Maitri's eyes, and then there was no stopping her. She managed to get six pre-orders for her 2023 calendar, two commissions, and also sold a few paintings!," he writes.

People have hailed the entrepreneurial skills of the young girl and congratulations have been pouring in for her.

Shark Tank India airs on Sony Entertainment Television where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their business to a panel of investors known as Sharks.
