MVP Favorite Josh Allen Has Been Playing With A Broken Hand

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is currently running away with the NFL MVP race. He has scored a combined 36 touchdowns and has limited his interceptions to just 5 so far, and has led his team to an 11-3 record on their way to becoming Super Bowl favorites. And according to a report released on Sunday morning, he’s done it all with a broken left hand.

Josh Allen Has Been Playing With A Broken Hand

The injury took place during the Bills’ Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals. During one of his 11 touchdown rushes this season, Allen leaped into the end zone and came down with his weight on his non-throwing hand. He remained in the game and has played in every one since, all while being listed on the weekly injury report.

Apparently, the fall was bad enough to fracture the hand. Early on, Allen played with a noticeable wrap around the ailment, though it hasn’t had much of an effect on his play and production. With the injury being on his left hand, he hasn’t had to worry much about his passing, but it would be understandable if he was limited in his dual threat ability as a runner.

But he’s been as dangerous as ever on the run and in the open field, and is on pace to finish with 100+ rushing attempts for the 6th straight season. He has fumbled five times, but that is the lowest figure (thus far) in that category in his career.

The grueling 17-game schedule allows little time for rest, so there won’t be much time for recovery for Josh Allen before Buffalo embarks on their playoff run. But if his regular season play is any indication, he should be no worse for the wear come mid-January and beyond.

The Bills still have three games left on their schedule, which is one of the softest remaining schedules in the league. They will take on the Patriots on Sunday in Week 16, and have a date with the Jets the next. They’ll then wrap up the year by again facing off against New England, though it remains to be seen how much there will be to play for in Week 18.

The Bills are listed as heavy 14-point favorites this week.
