Muswell Hill stabbing: Moment teen arrested after 'knifing church worker' on doorstep in north London

The moment a teen is arrested at scene of stabbing in Muswell Hill - (UKNIP)

This is the moment a teenager is arrested after a “lovely youth worker” who “does so much for the community” was stabbed in Muswell Mill on Wednesday night.

The woman in her 40s was found injured in Muswell Hill’s St James’ Lane just after 8pm, suffering two stab wounds. She was rushed to hospital where her injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Another youth worker, who knows the woman concerned, told the Metro she was “lovely” and had helped set up a youth club at the local centre.

“She is great with kids, absolutely lovely and very energetic. I can’t see how anyone could want to hurt her,” they told the publication.

“She does so much for the community.”

The club set up by the woman runs on Fridays, neighbours said.

Chester O’Field, 61, also told the Metro that she was the “nicest person it could happen to”.

He added: “She and the family go to James’s Church.

“She raised people’s spirits every where she went. Just a lovely lady. You pray she’s OK.”

Another resident, who witnessed the aftermath, told The Sun newspaper: "I heard shouting and before I knew it the road was swimming with police cars.

"She had been stabbed by a teenager, he had a baby face. Police got hold of him, cuffed him and took him away."

Footage of the incident depicted a heavy emergency services presence, with two plain-clothed officers standing next to a teenage boy, who was wearing grey joggers, black trainers and a North Face jacket.

He was then filmed being led into the back of a police van.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 8.04pm on Wednesday, 27 November to reports of an assault on St James Lane, Muswell Hill.

"Officers attended and found a woman, aged in her 40s, with stab injuries. Her injuries are not life threatening.

"A male in his teens was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

"He was taken into custody where he remains."
