NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement that Muslim League is a secular party has triggered a huge squabble between his party and the rival BJP. Leaders of both the traditional adversaries are trading charges over the statement which has acquired considerable controversial proportions now.
Rahul, who is on a visit to the US, took part in an interaction on June 1 at the Washington DC National Press Club. The interviewer asked him, “You talked about secularism in democracy. You are opposing the Hindu party BJP. However, the Congress in Kerala has been in an alliance with Muslim party Muslim League in Kerala, the state from which you are, you were MP, sorry.”
