Musk before meeting PM: environmentalists might destroy humanity with AI

Ahead of his visit to prime minister Rishi Sunak’s artificial intelligence (AI) safety summit, which starts today, tech billionaire Elon Musk has said that the environmental movement has “gone way too far” and could use AI to destroy humanity.

Musk managed to squeeze in an appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast before flying to the UK. “I’m headed to an international sort of AI safety conference later tonight, leaving in about three hours. I’m gonna meet with the British Prime Minister and a number of other people,” he said.
