Erin Patterson's conviction for murdering three relatives with death-cap mushrooms could be overturned after her appeal exposed an unusual jury-sequestration problem involving a hotel, prosecutors, journalists and a table-tennis tournament.
Patterson, who was sentenced to life in prison in 2025 after being found guilty of three murders and one attempted murder, is challenging the convictions before Victoria's Court of Appeal. Judges have yet to rule on whether the hotel arrangement amounted to a miscarriage of justice.
