Murdoch MacLennan branded 'useless' as Rangers and SPFL dispute over league sponsor sparks fuming Ian McCall verdict

Partick Thistle boss Ian McCall has lashed out at SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan in the wake of the dispute with Rangers.

The Ibrox club refused to display the sponsor's logo or have players and staff appear in front of it due to a conflict of interest with a chairman Douglas Park 's firm, Park Motor Group.

The league have confirmed that they have extended their sponsorship agreement with cinch, but that Rangers are no longer contractually obliged to promote cinch.

Both the SPFL and the Ibrox side have traded statements this week, with Park calling for a full investigation into from the SFA.

The Jags have had their own issues with Neil Doncaster, McLennan and the SPFL since they were relegated from the Championship on a points-per-game basis in 2020.

An McCall couldn't resist a swipe when quizzed on BBC's Off The Ball about the row between Rangers and the SPFL by host Tam Cowan.

Asking if McCall had much sympathy for the league chief Doncaster after "a tough week" McCall quickly replied “Not particularly.”

Listeners were also asked to name the 'Blood XI' as part of a game on the show, and McCall followed up with a swipe at MacLennan.

He went on “I’ve actually wrote down the chairman for the ‘Blood XI’. It’s Murdoch MacLennan because he’s bloody useless.

“I don’t know what he does, I’ve no idea.”
