Murderer who 'couldn't remember' stabbing young Scot to death at flat party jailed for life

Two men have been jailed after stabbing a stranger to death at a flat party in Aberdeen.

Scott Hector, 20, tragically died after being attacked with a knife in the city's Marischal Court in April, 2021. Sean O’Halloran, 20, pleaded guilty to murder and Connor Adams, 18, admitted an amended charge of culpable homicide during a hearing at the Edinburgh High Court last month.

The pair also admitted conspiring to rob the victim. The court heard how O'Halloran stabbed Mr Hector on the body once with the weapon before stealing a quantity of drugs from the flat.

O’Halloran, of Aberdeen, told police he couldn't remember the incident at the party as his head was "f***ed" from taking alcohol and drugs. He made the admission to detectives after being arrested for killing Mr Hector.

O'Halloran was today sentenced to life in prison, with a punishment part of 11 years and eight months. Adams, also of Aberdeen, was jailed for seven years and three months.

Deborah Demick, Deputy Head National Homicide Team of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), said: “We have heard from Scott’s family the devastating impact his murder has had on them. Sean O’Halloran and Conor Adams carried out a violent, unprovoked attack on Scott.

“The consequences of this crime on this family have been enormous, through no fault of Scott's and our thoughts are with them.”
