Man, 43, arrested on suspicion of murder after woman's body found
A man was arrested this evening on suspicion of murdering a woman in Haydock.
Detectives were quizzing the 43-year-old from St Helens after he was detained in the Liverpool area. A man in his 30s remains in hospital where he continues to be interviewed by officers.
The woman, in her late 40s, was found dead at a property in Piele Road, Haydock, at 9.05 today. Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.

Earlier police said a man in his 30s was found close to the scene with injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which were not believed to be life threatening. Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the woman and inform her next of kin. House-to-house, CCTV and forensic inquiries are underway in the local area.
Police earlier described the investigation as a domestic murder inquiry and revealed how the emergency services were called to reports for a woman's safety.

Dave Chappelle in Hot Water: Netflix star's secret show at Liverpool comedy club
Netflix special stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle appeared at a secret show at a comedy club in Liverpool last night.
The US star, who has recently faced criticism over jokes involving transgender people, appeared at the Hot Water Comedy Club on Wednesday evening. Taking to the stage at the intimate gig, Chappelle reportedly performed a set that lasted several hours.
Comedy fans in the city have expressed amazement at the secret show on social media. On Twitter, Hot Water Comedy Club said it only had two hours' notice that the global star would be performing at their venue.

It comes the day before he begins a short arena tour in the UK with fellow comedian Chris Rock. The pair are due to perform at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, before two dates at London’s O2 Arena.
Chappelle is also taking part in a special tribute concert in memory of late Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins. This is at London’s Wembley Stadium on September 3.
