Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally stabbed at a student accommodation building in Norwich on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to an address in the city’s Somerleyton Street at 5.22am to reports a man had suffered a suspected stab wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

A police cordon is in place and officers are at the scene carrying out inquiries. Due to the ongoing investigation, several people have been temporarily moved from their homes while officers pursue their inquiries.

Supt Sonia Humphreys said: “We know this is upsetting and may cause concern in the community.

"A police cordon is in place and you will see officers at the scene working to establish the exact circumstances over the next few days. You will also see additional officers on patrol to provide reassurance.”

Anyone with information can contact Norfolk police on 101, quoting incident number 51 of today, Saturday, November 22.
