A man in his 20s was stabbed to death in Nunhead and had his e-bike stolen.
Scotland Yard launched a murder investigation after the man was killed near a children’s playground in Nunhead Green, the centre of the south east London suburb.
The man, in his 20s, was rushed to hospital by a member of the public shortly after 9.20pm on Sunday.
The victim was suffering multiple knife injuries and despite the efforts of hospital staff he died at 9.30am on Monday.
Scotland Yard said enquiries into the murder are ongoing and there have been no arrests so far.
DCI Laurence Smith from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation and my team are working diligently to piece together the events that led to this man losing his life.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Nunhead Green at around 9.20pm on Sunday night and who saw any of this incident to get in contact.
“You may have information that could prove vital to this investigation.”
DCS Seb Adjei-Addoh, responsible for policing in Southwark and Lambeth added: “I understand the concern that this incident will cause among the local community; another young man has lost his life to knife crime on our streets.
“You will see an increased police presence in the Peckham area over the coming days. This will include local community engagement officers who are there to listen and act on any concerns from our communities.”
