Murder probe as man in his 20s stabbed to death near Battersea Power Station

A murder investigation has been launched after a young man was stabbed to death near Battersea Power Station in south London.

Metropolitan Police officers and paramedics scrambled to Thessaly Road, Nine Elms at around 6.15pm on Monday.

The victim in his 20s had suffered knife injuries and was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Despite the efforts of doctors, he was pronounced dead.

A force spokesman said his family are being supported by specialist officers.

Two men, aged 28 and 38, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody.

Video and images from the scene show a large emergency services presence on the Patmore Estate.

The scene is also cordoned off along Battersea Park Road near Nine Elms London Underground Station.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts remain firmly with the victim’s family during this extremely difficult time.

“A homicide investigation has now been launched and we are working urgently to establish the full circumstances surrounding this attack.

“We are urgently appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, has information about those involved, or who may have relevant CCTV, doorbell or dash‑cam footage from the area, to contact police.”

London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 6.13pm yesterday March 2 to reports of a stabbing in Thessaly Road, Battersea.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene.

“We also dispatched two trauma teams in cars from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”

Last June, Earl Morin-Briton, 36, was jailed for life after knifing to death talented footballer Theo Porteous, 32, during an “unprovoked and senseless” attack in a car park on Thessaly Road in August 2023.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD6165/2MAR, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
