Murder probe as man, 58, battered at Charlton home loses fight for life

A man found battered at a home in south-east London has lost his fight for life in hospital prompting a murder investigation.

The 58-year-old and a woman, 47, were attacked in Erwood Road, Charlton around 3.50pm on Wednesday.

Despite the best efforts of medics, he sadly died as a result of his injuries three days later. She suffered minor injuries.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “His next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.”

A post-mortem examination is being arranged.

At Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Radoslaw Brzezicki, 41, of the same address in Greenwich, and Marius Bruzas, 49, of Longmoore Street, Victoria, appeared charged with grievous bodily harm.

Brzezicki, who was remanded in custody, is further accused of actual bodily harm on the female victim. Bruzas has been bailed.

Officers are treating it as an “isolated incident” and said those involved were known to each other.
