A murder investigation has been launched after a young man was found stabbed to death in a car in west London.
Police were alerted to reports the 27-year-old victim was injured in Sudbury Heights Avenue, Greenford at about 5.30pm on Monday.
Officers responding with paramedics discovered him with knife wounds in a white Kia vehicle.
He was taken to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.
Scotland Yard said there have been no arrests at this early stage of the investigation.
A crime scene is in place with the car under a forensic tent. Officers remain in the area near Sudbury Town and Sudbury Hill Tube stations.
Neighbours described how London Ambulance Service crews battled to save the victim’s life on the suburban street.
Electrician Drago Brajenovic, 46, said: “I saw loads of police and paramedics arrive and they were pumping his chest.
“They worked really hard. I thought it was a heart attack as I had done the same for my friend. I was willing to help but the medics were on it.
“To hear it’s a murder is a total shock.”
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Shirley, leading the manhunt, said: “While this investigation remains in its early stages extensive enquiries are already under way to identify who is responsible for this murder.
“Officers have been on scene gathering evidence and securing any relevant CCTV which may assist us building a picture of what took place.
“However, I would appeal to anyone in the area who saw or witnessed events, or any local residents we have yet to speak to who has footage which may captured the incident to get in touch immediately.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesman added enquiries are ongoing to inform the deceased’s next of kin.
Detectives and forensics trawling the scene for clues. Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries.
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson responsible for policing in the West Area command covering Greenford, said: “I understand and share the shock that this incident will cause local residents.
“I want to reassure the community the specialist officers are working diligently to piece together the events of this incident and to apprehend whoever is responsible.
“You will see more officers in and around the area in the days following this incident, including local police. If you have any concerns, please speak to them, or if you can help with the investigation then call 101 immediately.”
A mother-of-two, who lives nearby, added: “This is really grim.
“The police were swarming over the car. They got the guy out and did CPR. It was horrific.”
