Murder probe as 21-year-old man shot dead in West Kensington

A murder investigation is underway after a young man was shot dead in west London.

The 21-year-old was found at a property in Comeragh Road, West Kensington at about 10.17pm on Easter Monday.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance and neighbours heard someone screaming.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

At the scene, the victim was discovered with a gunshot wound.

Medics treated him but despite their efforts, he sadly died just before 11pm.

One resident posted on X, formerly Twitter, that armed police who arrived believed the suspect was hiding in a construction site on Palliser Road.

Clare wrote: “We heard a loud gunshot [and] someone screaming for an ambulance as the police arrived.

“Police have been going door-to-door speaking to the neighbours to see if they saw anything.”

Other locals in nearby Fulham and Barons Court said they alerted by the force helicopter flying overhead.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

“A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

“At this early stage there have been no arrests.”

A crime scene remains in place close to West Kensington Underground Station.

London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.15pm on Monday April 1 to reports of an incident on Comeragh Road, W14.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and members of our tactical response unit.

“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”

In September 2022, 29-year-old drill rapper Maximillian Kusi-Owusu, known as M Lo, was gunned down in West Kensington.

Witnesses heard multiple shots which sounded like fireworks on Kensington High Street at 2am.

A 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder was released with no further action.

Following Mr Kusi-Owusu’s death, family friends paid tribute to “a very straightforward, energetic and down-to-earth human being”.

The musician, whose hits such as 2016’s Designer and Pain attracted over a million listens each on Spotify and YouTube, and was part of the drill collective £R based in South Kilburn.
