Murder probe after 19-year-old man stabbed to death in north London

A murder investigation has been launched after a teenager was stabbed to death in north London.

The 19-year-old was attacked in Whitchurch Lane, Edgware about 1am on Friday.

Police were called to reports of a man suffering a stab injury.

Officers, paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance attended but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he died at the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “His next of kin have been informed and a crime scene remains in place.”

Detectives said there had been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

Five teenagers have died in knife killings in recent weeks amid concerns of escalating violence over the summer school holidays.

The Edgware victim is the 11th youngster to be murdered in London in 2023, compared to 14 for the whole of last year and 30 in 2021, the bloodiest year on record.

Previously, Claudyo Jauad Lafayette, 17, was fatally knifed when a street fight erupted at a birthday celebration on Granville Road, Brent on July 14.

Rahaan Ahmed Amin, 16, died after being stabbed in the heart in West Ham Park, Forest Gate five days earlier.
