A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 21-year-old in a house fire that police allege was deliberately lit on the Gold Coast last week.

Queensland Police said the 21-year-old man's badly burnt body was found in the living room of a Leichhardt Street, Coomera address when emergency services arrived just before 11pm on Wednesday, February 9.

About an hour later a 38-year-old man allegedly arrived at a work colleague's home at Sheldon asking for help and was taken by ambulance to hospital with "facial and limb burns".

The older man was on Tuesday charged with one count each of murder, arson and unlawful stalking, and a bedside hearing is expected on Wednesday.

Police previously said the 38-year-old lives at the Leichhardt Street house while the 21-year-old had resided at another Coomera address but were "good friends" and may have been in a relationship.
