A dog has died and its owner left injured after they were deliberately hit by a car during a murder bid in East Renfrewshire.
The shocking incident took place at around 10.30pm on Friday, March 18, at a car park near Stormyland Way in Barrhead.
A black-coloured motor - similar to a Nissan Note - was deliberately driven at the animal’s owner following an altercation.
His dog tragically died at the scene while he suffered leg and back injuries which required treatment at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
Police are now hunting the driver of the motor which fled the scene after the collision.
He is described as being white, around 5ft 7in, aged between 52 to 55, with a slim build and a shaved head.
The driver was wearing a dark coloured jumper and spoke with a local accent.
Detective Constable Sarah-Lee MacFarlane said: “This was a deliberate act that caused injuries to the dog walker and killed his dog and we are appealing to anyone in the area at the time who may have seen what happened to get in touch.
“The car involved may be similar to a Nissan Note and if anyone saw it or has dash-cam that would help with our investigation then I urge them to get in touch.
