High street budget retailer Home Bargains has landed itself in trouble with some parents over a £2.99 box for kids this Easter
Labelled as the 'Easter Eve Box', the treats are supposed to be enjoyed the night before Easter.
Each is filled with Easter-themed goodies to give to kids ahead of their traditional egg hunts.
Shopper Debbie Chambers shared a picture of the boxes on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains group, where it quickly caught the attention of furious parents.
People flocked to the comments - to make it clear they were not happy.
Emma L Berry said: "When I was growing up I received some Easter eggs, this is a ridiculous idea
"The sad thing is shops have forgotten what some occasions are for. For some people Easter is an extremely special, religious day.
"I admire people with this faith , it is not something to be insulted by throwing money at it!"
Paula Adds wrote: "What a waste of money, the pressure on parents to buy these extras is so sad especially at the moment.
"Some people might think these are brilliant for others it's simply more commercialism and pressure.
"Thank goodness my children are too old now for this."
Louise Garrahan slammed: "What next...Halloween eve?? Bommy night eve? There is a special magic on Christmas Eve.
"Retailers should just respect that."
Susan Buckmaster commented: "Surely all these ‘eve’ boxes just detract from the joy of the actual day?
"Or maybe it’s been too long since I was a child!"
Carrie Anne Greening said: "As if people are not struggling enough.
"Get a grip please don’t buy this! Your children didn’t have an Easter eve box last year or the year before they got a bloody egg!
"Oh, I’m fuming with Home Bargains."
Wendy Thompson said: "I doubt people will be worrying about buying Easter boxes for the kids, when they will be struggling to cope with the rise in utilities."
Some shoppers did, however, love the idea of an Easter Eve box.
Abbie White praised the boxes, writing: "I personally love it and think it’s a lovely idea. If people want to be extra at certain times in the year for certain occasions, so what?!
"Let them carry on, if it doesn’t affect you leave it go, and if you’ve got nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all."
Lucy Chidlow said: "I'm traditional and my kids have eggs only but everyone's different they shouldn't stop selling stuff like this just because some people think it's ridiculous or getting out of hand this world and today's people have such an issue with absolutely everything.
"So what if some people do this for their kids. What does it affect your life if they do or not?"
Nikki Anne Frankie Love wrote: "Why do people get so angry?
"I’m a parent and these don’t put pressure on me. Also, please stop telling people ‘don’t’ buy these because they’re a gimmick!
"Erm, so are chocolate eggs."
