MUMBAI: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will on August 18, launch India's first electric double decker in the city. The launch will coincide with that of a luxury bus introduced by and whose seats can be booked over an app by regular office-goers.
"The AC electric double decker will be a "game changer" for Mumbai as 900 such huge and comfortable buses are expected in a year," said BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra, adding, that the formal launch will be on August 18, but will run for public from the first week of September.
"We will be conducting trial runs of the first bus from next weekend and several prominent citizens from the city may be invited to take a ride," he said.
