MUMBAI: The Senior Police Inspector of MHB police station in Mumbai, Sudhir Kudalkar, has been given the "Hero To Animals Award" by PETA India for recently rescuing a 120-year-old Indian black turtle which was stuck in a weed-filled drain.
Kudalkar entered the knee-deep water with the help of a torch and placed the frightened marine animal in a box until he was able to consult with forest officials about the best way to return him safely to his natural habitat.
