MUMBAI: In what is believed to be a first for a local police station, a team from the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar commissionerate has landed in Prague in Czech Republic, to extradite one of two men accused of murdering a US-based model 19 years ago.
The Bombay high court had this year issued non-bailable warrants against Pragnesh Desai, a US citizen, and his friend Vipul Patel for failing to appear during hearings of an appeal against their acquittal by a Thane sessions court in 2003. They were in judicial custody till acquittal.
