MUMBAI: A young man was found dead with 29 stab injuries on the railway tracks near Kurla on Tuesday. Nikhil Savla, the deceased, was unemployed and was also a school dropout.
Police said they are probing whether Savla had got into a dispute with anyone.
Around 12.30 pm, an on duty constable at Kurla GRP chowky was alerted by the station manager about a man lying grievously injured in bushes adjacent to the tracks, about 300 metres from Kurla's platform 1. There were tattoos on his arms but he was not carrying any identification document. Four police teams were formed and his photographs were circulated to informants as well as other police stations.
Around 4 pm, his identity was established.
Police said Savla was a Ghatkopar resident. His father is an auto driver and his mother works as a maid. The police officers were informed by his acquaintances that Savla used to have marijuana sometimes.
A case of murder has been registered under section 302 of IPC. Savla's mother has pressed the charges.
