Mumbai: Flyer held for smoking in aircraft toilet

MUMBAI: A 50-year-old flyer was arrested for allegedly smoking in the toilet of a flight after it took off from Kuwait on July 17.

Mohammed Shahid was arrested after the flight cabin crew filed a complaint with the Sahar police after landing at the Mumbai International Airport.

The incident occurred seconds after the flight took off from Kuwait. "Shahid went to the toilet when the flight flew from Kuwait. The flight attendant noticed smoke inside the toilet and found out that Shahid had smoked inside endangering other flyers' lives," said a police officer at the Sahar police station.

Shahid has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section 336 (endangering the life and safety of others) and under the Aircraft Rules, 1937, section 25 (smoking in aircraft).
