Mumbai: Dog dies mysteriously as security chases it out of society; FIR lodged

MUMBAI: A Malad based animal activist and member of the high court appointed committee to monitor animal welfare laws in the state, Dr Nandini Kulkarni, has lodged an FIR with regards to animal cruelty at the Bangur Nagar police station, after a local stray dog called `Goldie' recently died in her housing society under mysterious circumstances.

Talking to TOI, Dr Kulkarni said: "The death of Goldie, a seven-year-old male dog, occurred at 6 pm on September 22 inside my Vikas Park housing society, Link Road, Malad (west). Goldie was a very docile dog, and would sometimes run inside the society to hide under the staircase when loud fire crackers were burst outside. In my police complaint I have also mentioned that the security guards were instructed by another senior staffer (day supervisor) to chase this dog out of the society whenever he was seen there."
