A speeding BMW crashed off Mumbai's Coastal Road in the early hours of Sunday, killing three people inside the car and leaving another critically injured. The car was reportedly headed from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali when the driver lost control, hit a barrier and fell into an under construction parking area below.
The crash has once again put the spotlight on Mumbai's Coastal Road, a corridor that has become popular with motorists for its smooth surface and long open stretches. It comes just weeks after Mumbai Police booked several supercars for racing through the road's tunnel section, and it has reopened questions on speed limits, vehicle rules and access restrictions on the corridor.
