A grief-stricken new mum has spent two years and thousands of pounds to try and get her daughter's dad named on their child's birth certificate. Beccy Flint delivered baby Harper-May two days earlier so her partner Jamie Hunter, who had kidney cancer, could meet his little girl.
Tragically, he passed away two days later - but both were thrilled that he had the chance to cuddle his baby daughter before he died. Jamie, a football coach and teacher, was over the moon to find out he was going to be a dad, but he started suffering crippling pain in his side and was diagnosed with kidney cancer in March 2020. They made the decision to deliver their baby early so he could be there to meet her after he was told his cancer was incurable.
While grieving Beccy faced raising Harper-May without Jamie by her side, she was dealt extra heartache as she battled to get him on their daughter's birth certificate. Beccy, from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, has spent £3,500 and two years doing so - all because they were not married, BirminghamLive reports.
