Mum who took in Ukrainian refugee family struggling to cope amid cost of living crisis

A mum who took in a Ukrainian refugee family is now struggling to keep her household afloat amid the ongoing cost of living crisis. After news broke of the Russian invasion, Lisa Raynes decided she wanted to help those fleeing Ukraine and offered to take in refugees on Facebook.

She was quickly matched with a family and, within just a few weeks, welcomed Angelika Zonzova and her husband Valerii into her home in Gatley. Angelika and Valerii's sons, Dorian, 17 and Camuil, 15, remained in Ukraine until they were able to find refuge in the Czech Republic.

Lisa was then able to sort their visas and her husband travelled to Prague to collect the teenagers and their cat Matilda. The family-of-four and their pet now all live with Lisa, her husband and their three children in the five-bedroom house, Manchester Evening News reports.
