A mum who attributes her remarkable transformation to her divorce and joining Tinder has said that she feels like she is ''walking on air''. Emma Sheppard, 42, split with her long term spouse of 18 years in 2020.
She said the end of her marriage changed her life for the better. Emma revealed her busy lifestyle as a wife was making her miserable and she is now ''living her best life'' following their separation.
The newly-single mum had a sudden epiphany that she could ''be so much more'' and decided to turn her life around by joining a gym and switching her junk food diet for healthy home-cooked meals, Wales Online reports. She also began to take more pride in her appearance and glammed herself up for nights out again.
On top of this, she up a Tinder account, where she has received plenty of attention, including from a man who claims to be an ex-Love Island star.
Emma, a welfare case worker, from Blackpool shared: "I'm so happy now that I've totally turned my life around. I feel amazing and it's like the beauty comes from within. 'It's like walking on air. Before I'd always just worked hard and cared for everyone else.
''But, one day after we separated, I realised it was my turn. I looked old empty and drained, but now I'm living my best life. I'm happy and I look completely different."
Emma tied the knot at the young of age 22 in 2000, thinking that she would be married for the rest of her life, but their relationship began to collapse several years ago, she reveals. Her husband left their home in January 2021 and the divorce was concluded later in the year in October.
Emma confessed she initially felt emotional after the split but was motivated to move on from the relationship with the help of Katy Perry's upbeat tune, Roar. She decided to revamp her wardrobe and got rid of all her boring black trousers and flats and replaced them with skirts, heels, and fluorescent jackets.
She also started sporting red lip stick for the first time in her life and cut back on her smoking addiction, going from 20 cigarettes a day down to four. The determined mum who is a non drinker also took up an additional job two nights a week in a cocktail bar and she began working out at the gym, lifting weights and doing cardio five times per week.
Leaving no stone unturned, Emma also changed her diet and ditched her eggs and chips and bacon sandwiches for chicken pasta and home made bolognaise. She said: "I'd married for life. It was him, the girls and work. I felt I'd got it all sorted.
''It was really bad after he left, it really broke me. I felt worthless - I was having panic attacks. I had no confidence in myself and was so isolated. I was just existing, working to pay the bills and just getting through.
''One day I woke up and thought, 'You come from a family of strong women, you are free and you can make a difference in your life'. I realised I can be so much more.
''It was like a force from somebody watching over me. Everything about me is completely different now. People say I look incredible compared to before, and I think it's because I'm so happy inside. Now I just smile all the time. And this is just the beginning."
Emma who is currently single revealed that she is looking for love on Tinder. She said: "It was funny to get hit on by that Love Island guy. I didn't recognise him at first but I thought, 'My type on paper'.
"I worked it out when we talked over Snapchat and I saw videos of him. He was messaging saying how pretty I was and that I don't look like 42. It was very flattering, and a shock, and quite funny."
