Mum thanks 'wonderful' strangers who stepped in as daughter struggled to breathe

A mum who went into "full panic mode" has praised two strangers who helped when her daughter was struggling to breathe.

Donna Moore said she "massively panicked" when her daughter Gabriella, five, fell from the monkey bars during a trip to the park in Bury, Greater Manchester.

With Gabriella finding it hard to breathe, two Good Samaritans rushed to the aid of Donna, who had her baby with her too.

One woman held the baby while the other called 999 to request an ambulance and reassured Donna that help was on its way. Once they arrived at the hospital, doctors said Gabriella had badly winded herself but she was also assessed for potential spleen damage.

Donna, 34, told the Manchester Evening News : “I went into serious panic mode as you can imagine when it’s your child. These two wonderful people helped me, one with my baby I had with me and the other ringing the ambulance for my daughter and keeping me calm.

“She just fell back off the monkey bars and couldn’t breathe; I massively panicked. She was taken to Burnley hospital.

“The monkey bars were 6ft high and her breathing wasn’t great, that’s why they wanted to take her to hospital. The hospital said she was badly winded herself but they wanted to check she hadn’t damaged her spleen."

Donna also singled out the paramedics - who transported them to hospital from Nuttall Park in Ramsbottom - for praise. She said: “Simon and Omar were the most amazing ambulance drivers, they made my daughter totally comfortable, at ease and made her laugh.”
