Mum swung broom at neighbour and hurled homophobic insult at son

A woman swung a broom at her neighbour and shouted a homophobic insult towards her son during a shocking row outside their homes.

Elaine Reid swore at Sarah Rasmussen and lunged at her before picking up the broom her neighbour was using to sweep her pavement and swinging it at her. Video footage also shows Reid pointing at Ms Rasmussen’s son John-Paul Brooder, who is gay, and shouting “Is that the one you dressed up in girl’s clothes”.

Liverpool Magistrates’ Court heard Reid, who other neighbours on the street described in court today as kind, loving and caring, “just snapped” after a long running feud between Ms Rasmussen and other residents on Perriam Street in Allerton came to a head.
