Mum swindled £28,000 in disability payments but was caught walking unaided

A benefits cheat who swindled up to £28,000 in disability benefits was rumbled by investigators after she was caught walking unaided.

Cheryl Topham, was initially claiming Disability Living Allowance legitimately since 1992 after falling victim to a number of health conditions which impacted her ability to walk and look after herself.

In 2015, the mum also received Employment Support Allowance legitimately. However, in 2017 Topham had a knee replacement operation which was successful but the 54-year-old failed to notify the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) of her condition.
