Mum slammed for using bathroom item on Christmas tree as decoration - but others love it

As Christmas Day is just around the corner, many people will be planning to put up their festive fir soon, while other staunch fans have had theirs up for weeks. Depending on your creativity, you may choose to opt for unique designs, but most people tend to play it safe with some simple baubles and twinkly lights.

One mum added a unique spin on her tree this year as she used an item from her bathroom to give the appearance of "cotton candy". However, the woman's design has spared a debate online - and nobody can come to an agreement over the niche festive display.

Sam Holtwick - who boasts more than 1,000 follower on TikTok account @samholtwick - share a clip of her family Christmas tree.

Putting her creative mind to work, the mum used a selection of colourful shower puffs (or loofahs) to give the appearance of cotton candy.

In her video demonstration, Sam took various sponges and used a hot glue gun to seal each one onto white cardboard, which gave the appearance of individual cotton candy cones.

Captioning the post, she wrote: "Call me crazy but how have I not thought of this before?! When you want a Christmas Candy Theme tree but don't want to pay a ridiculous amount."

The mum's video has surpassed a whopping 3.5 million views since posting and it's safe to say it's roused some opinions.

Rushing to the comments, users shared their thoughts over the Christmas tree design - as not everyone was in agreement over the niche look.

"Hahaha please no," one person wrote.

A second added: "This just looks absolutely shocking."

Another wrote: "Eh... it could be a great idea, but it's very loofah with paper cones. maybe spread them out more or glue cabdoes or something to them."

In the meantime, others quickly came to the mum's defence as they praised the unique design - with one user encouraging viewers to get into the Christmas spirit.

They wrote: "Am I the only one that actually thinks it's a cute idea? Plus, its not expensive yet her kid seems happy. No need to crush spirits. It's Christmas."

A different user penned: "I actually think this really cuteee."

A third commented: "Damn! That's awesome never would’ve of thought."
